(1)词汇的学习包括音、形、意及其用法搭配等。要结合教材内容,课标要求以及学生年龄特点帮助学生正确学习单词。其方法主要包括以下方面:

第一、在展示词语意思的时候可以通过实物、动作、手势、定义、词汇信息(如近义词、反义词等)、上下文信息、表格、图表、翻译、问答、语义导图、信息填充等方式来进行。如在解释Tuesday 周二的时候可以利用表格日历的方式进行展示。

第二、对词汇进行巩固练习也是学习词汇的重要一环,这些方法有:图片法、问答法等。如让学生利用句型进行巩固练习:--- What day is it today?

--- It’s Tuesday.

第三、词语学习测试的方法包括完成句子、完形填空、做垂直和平行的词汇迷宫图、词汇bingo的游戏等。

Step 1 Warming up and lead-in

① Greetings.

② Play a game: What makes ten?

Teacher will show students some numbers with fingers, and at the same time ask students to give a number that could makes ten with the number that teacher gives. After several rounds of game, teacher will tell students that today’s lesson is also about numbers – numbers in a week.

(设计意图:利用游戏调动课堂轻松活跃的气氛,同时将学生的注意力吸引到课堂,利用数字自然地过渡到本节课的话题。)

Step 2 Presentation

Teach the new words by playing the game “Look and Guess”. Students’ course timetable will be shown on the screen, in which students can only see different subjects but cannot see what day. Encourage students to guess by asking them “What day is it today?”. Students may give the Chinese answer. Then teacher checks the answers and gives the English words in the sentence pattern “Today is …”.

After students get familiar with the new words, draw a timeline on the screen to explain the meaning of tomorrow by using Friday and Saturday.

Students follow the teacher to read the words for three times to remember them and know how to pronounce the words “Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday” correctly.

The teacher asks some students, “What day is it today?” And lead them to answer, “Today is ...”

(设计意图:利用游戏来呈现单词能够吸引学生的注意力,同时将所学单词与其对应动作联系起来,能够帮助学生更好地理解和记忆。在学生初步认识这些单词后,通过跟读的方式来规范发音,加深记忆。与此同时,在对话当中呈现出本节课可用的句型,让学生体会新单词在句子当中的应用,并为接下来操练环节打好基础。)

Step 3 Practice

1. Game: Finger Show

Number the new words according to their Chinese meaning, for example, 2 for Tuesday and 3 for Wednesday. Ask students to give the corresponding word according to the number shown by teacher’s finger.

2. Game: Who is missing

Teacher erase one or two letters in each word after asking them to remember their spelling carefully. Then play a bomb game to select students to tell which letter is missing and give the correct spelling of the words.

3. Read and fill in the following chart.

Step 4 Production

Make a conversation. Ask students to work in pairs and give each pair a calendar. Give them 3 minutes to use the words and sentence structure they have learnt to make a conversation about the week plan.

S2: Today is Friday.

S1: Do what?

S2: I can play basketball today.
